Building on Success Real Estate Investor Patrick Marino Takes on a New Role at Action Park Media

Written by Janet Rostam.

After a career of more than two decades in real estate investment, M Group Companies Chairman and CEO Patrick Marino is taking on a new project in the media industry as a principal at Action Park Media, a vertically integrated media and production company that he co-owns with Kevin Connolly, director, actor, and former Entourage star.

Prior to co-founding Action Park Media, Marino had built a career as a value-add investor and diversified real estate developer. He had worked with a diverse collection of properties in fields such as industrial real estate, as well as commercial properties like parking lots, shopping centers, and self-storage units. He also worked with residential properties including multifamily homes, apartments, and subdivisions.

At first glance, the world of content creation may seem like night and day from Patrick Marino’s previous projects. However, over the years, Patrick Marino has developed a robust network of connections not only in finance and real estate circles but also in areas such as the film industry. Throughout his career, his network has grown to touch people in every industry, and he has brought his relationships, experience, and passion to this new venture.

Since the founding of Action Park Media, Patrick Marino has brought his expertise in creating value for brand partnership alignment and the company’s long-term strategic planning, whereas Kevin has had a major focus on the content creation and creative aspects of the business. Through the combination of its founders’ strengths, Action Park Media has found its footing in the highly competitive field of podcasting. Through a multi-year deal with top podcast platform PodcastOne, APM has secured a position in the industry for years to come.

Action Park Media is currently aiming to focus its brand on premium content creation and distribution through its newly formed media partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It also produces everything from feature films, which are currently in development, to sports-focused content through podcasts such as No Gruffs Given, starring former NHL player Sean Avery, along with a variety of other content catering to different listeners’ interests.

Action Park Media’s slate of content also includes Victory: The Podcast, a weekly comedy podcast in which Kevin Connolly and Entourage creator Doug Ellin rewatch episodes of Entourage while providing their own commentary and stories about the show’s making. Connolly also co-hosted the hockey podcast Quick Shift with Sean Avery and Scott Willson. Action Park Media also produces The Skinny with Joey Merlino, in which former mob boss “Skinny Joey” Merlino and co-host Lil Snuff discuss sports, as well as fascinating stories from Merlino’s former life. The Skinny has also hosted guests such as professional athletes Danny Garcia, Michael Del Zotto, and Dave Schultz, as well as public figures like rapper Fat Joe.

Action Park Media has plans to continue expanding its content, which also includes working on a new docuseries on upcoming professional football Hall of Fame nominees with award winning-director Steve James, known for directing the documentary Hoop Dreams. “I am excited to be involved in this venture,” he comments. “Action Park Media is a dynamic production company, and our lineup of shows and personalities will fuel our brand’s growth for many years.”

Along with partner Kevin Connolly, Patrick Marino and Action Park Media have also revealed plans to develop intellectual property for television and film. As the company continues expanding, its future growth will depend on the synergy between Connolly’s creative expertise and Marino’s strategic thinking. With the right combination of creative vision and practical business strategy, Action Park Media can continue producing content in different mediums that excite and entertain audiences.
