He has had problems with alcoholism and was arrested for drunk driving a few years ago.

Vicky Oswald-Ley, Jani’s sister said: “Alcoholism is not something he chose. It’s something he fought everyday and it just won. There were no drugs, that was one thing he could not tolerate, he couldn’t stand them. He did not do drugs. We don’t have the autopsy report back yet, but he was a heavy drinker and I can only guess that alcoholism has a lot to do with it.”

Warrant became famous in the 80′s with the hits “Heaven” and “Cherry Pie.”

UK police has reported that they Amy Winehouse has died at age 27. A cause of death was not released yet, but internet chatters speculated that her dead was drug related. She had been known to abuse drugs and alcohol and had entered rehab, which is very ironic as her first hot ever was called “Rehab”.

Amy had 5 grammys and has released two albums. She was praised by many for her powerful vocals, including other artists. Nick Rhodes, keyboard player from 80′s music band Duran Duran, left this message on their website: “I am truly saddened to hear that Amy has died. She was a rare artist with a unique voice, who created an elegant soundtrack for a period. I remember the first time John Taylor and I saw her perform in London, her raw talent and artistic integrity was undeniable.”

Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse, who is a jazz musician, was in New York at the time of her death preparing for some concerts. He was devastated by the news and flew back to the UK immediately, canceling all his shows. He stated: “I’m coming home. I have to be with Amy. I can’t crack up, for her sake. My family needs me.” He also had been very vocal about her daughters problems with drug abuse and had tried to help her. “Doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her.”

Many are calling Amy’s death as joining the “27 Club,” which includes several others artists who dies at age 27, including Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendrix and Janice Joplin.

Amy had prepared to do a tour last June, but her first show in June 18 in Siberia was disastrous. She was so intoxicated that she could not perform and she was booed off the stage. The remaining of her tour was canceled.

The Beatles: A Brief History

July 20, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

For the first ten seconds you are greeted with a serenading piano solo, followed by John’s soft, delicate voice reciting those classic lyrics, “When I find myself in times of trouble/Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom/ Let it be, Let it be.” “Let It Be,” a homage to the tails and tribulations they endured as a band urges listeners to forget about their problems and move forward. Before releasing their last few record albums as a band, the four kids form Liverpool would go onto conquer Europe and then take America by storm throughout the 60s and 70s in what was known as “Beatlemania”.

“Beatlemania” Emerges

Playing in small clubs in Liverpool and finally gaining notoriety with their release of “Love Me Do”, the Beatles emerged as the newest rock sensation from over the pond. From the opening seconds of the song “Love Me Do,” you feel the steady pace of the harmonica carrying you across the simple song consisting of the G7 and C chords, yet these two chords would go on to capture the hearts of millions of fans. It was around this time that the Beatles would replace Pete Best with Ringo Starr and solidify the final four members of the band who consisted of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison.

After the release of “Love Me Do”, the Beatles would claim the top of the billboards in the United States for four week straight, capturing the hearts of millions of Americans. The success gained from the song would go on to launch the Beatles into stardom and help build a fan base that would go on to establish the Beatles as the most commercially successful rock bands of all time. However, their fame and fortune would soon take a turn for the worse.

Controversy Emerges

During an interview with Maureen Cleave, John Lennon made a statement claiming “The Beatles were more popular than Jesus”, sparking outrage among Americans, especially among the Bible-Belt States. The comment would spark record burnings, creating huge losses for the band and a negative image. While the band survived, they were never perceived the same by many American and British fans.

After the release of Let it Be, the band witnessed controversy as Paul tried to stop the release of Lennon’s solo song “Instant Karma!” This attempted stoppage lead Paul to quit the band and eventually destroy one of the greatest rock bands of all time. However, after emerging from the band, each member would go on to have success in either solo careers, as Paul and John did, or in other bands, as Ringo and George did.

After Effects

It seems fitting for the Beatles to release their final album titled Let It Be, regarding problems they wish to forget and move on from. While their success stems from much of the 1960s, the Beatles continue to serve as an iconic band whose music continues to resonate today. Even during their success, the band served as the image for the Counterculture movement hoping to end war and create peace. Still, even today, Beatles vinyl records, and even Beatles’ digital music, continues to be played.

Scotty McCreery, the 16 year old country singer, won this year’s American Idol yesterday. At the finale Scotty was against Lauren Alaina, who is also 16. 29 million watched the finale, 122 million votes were received and several popular artists performed on the results show.

Lauren had some vocal problems on the day of the finale, but the doctors gave her some shots and she was better by the time the show went on the air. At the end the voters decided Scotty should win. When the winners was announced, Lauren landed a surprise kiss on Scotty, making some speculate that they were dating. Later Lauren was asked if they were dating and her answer was “I don’t know, ask Scotty.” The next day Scotty told in an interview that they were not dating, but they were very close friends and they become closer because they had been taking private tutoring classes.

The Finale also featured several live performances, including a duet with Judas Priest and James Durbin, Beyonce, Steven Tyler (performing “Dream on”), Tom Jones, Tony Bennet, Lady Gaga and Marc Anthony (Jennifer Lopez’ husband).

Haley Reinhart leaves American Idol

May 21, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

In this weeks Ameircan Idol the Top 3 contestants faced off each other. In the running were Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.

Haley was the one voted off. It was a surprise that even she made it this far, because Pia Toscano who was a much better singer was booted off at the Top 7 show. However, Haley was a strong contender. Her singing is pretty good but not as good as Pia. It was probably her looks that got her this far.

My vote to win it all in the finals will be Scotty McCreery.

In the next weeks finals, several top artists will be performing, such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
